First Western Balkans Research and Innovation Infrastructures Roadmap

The Regional Cooperation Council published the first Western Balkans Research and Innovation Infrastructures Roadmap.

The first roadmap of this kind provides an in-depth overview of the regions' key research & innovation infrastructures. It was a joint effort of the RCC's experts and partners including line ministries in the Western Balkans.

The Roadmap sets out a vision for R&I infrastructure and the steps needed to achieve it in the Western Balkans.

It highlights existing R&I resources and infrastructure that can support the launch of joint initiatives by the WB economies in R&I.

Western Balkans Research and Innovation Infrastructures Roadmap

The Roadmap is a mix of two analyses.

First, it features internationally and regionally relevant R&I infrastructures in the WB region. Also, it shows initiatives open to a wide range of users to undertake excellent #research and #innovation.

Second, the Roadmap presents a regional bibliometric analysis of the most productive scientific disciplines.

Against this background, it recommends fields the region should focus on in the future to increase its competitive edge. Some examples include:

• Energy,
• Information and communication technologies,
• Tourism,
• Electrical & machinery industries.
