EU-North Macedonia Horizon Europe Joint Research and Innovation Committee

The first meeting of the EU-North Macedonia Horizon Europe Joint Research and Innovation Committee took place in Skopje on 17 October 2022. The meeting was co-chaired by Ms. Aneta Trpevska, State Secretary, Ministry of Education and Science and Ms. Ruta Zarnauskaite, Head of the Horizon Europe Association Unit, European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation.

The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Education and Science. The co-chair from North Macedonia welcomed the EU representatives and reiterated the commitment from North Macedonia to support the performance of its entities and researchers in the new Horizon Europe programme. The EU co-chair highlighted the good performance of North Macedonia in the Horizon Europe programme and its excellent efforts in closing the gap with the European partners in the European Innovation Scoreboard.

Key points addressed included the adoption and signature of the Rules of Procedures for the Joint Committee and an in-depth exchange on subjects pertinent to the association of North Macedonia to Horizon Europe.
