EIT Manufacturing was established in 2019 under the umbrella of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).

It is one of eight EIT communities, public-private partnerships, financed by the European Union and their partners.

It aims to mobilise manufacturing actors across Europe to integrate innovation and education for an entrepreneurial and sustainable Europe.

EIT Manufacturing is the EU's response to high-value manufacturing challenges in Europe including digital transformation, sustainability and increased competition.

EIT Manufacturing through figures

A vision of this EIT community established in 2019 is that global manufacturing will continue to be led by Europe.

With an earmarked budget of €400+ million until 2026, it connects and integrates education, innovation and business creation, alongside the Regional Innovation Scheme (RIS).

A total of 67 partners from 17 countries collaborate on developing four focus areas or flagships in the next seven years.

First, flexible production systems for competitive manufacturing.

Second, low environmental footprint systems & circular economy for green manufacturing followed by digital & collaborative solutions for innovative manufacturing ecosystems.

Finally, human-machine co-working for socially sustainable manufacturing.

EIT ManufacturingEIT Manufacturing allows three models of partnerships.

Members include large enterprises, research organisations and universities, activity partners are SME/Startups and call participants. Associations, incubators and policymakers are eligible to join as network partners.
