2nd Butterfly Innovation & Business Forum Kick-off

The 2nd Butterfly Innovation & Business Forum kick-off in Sarajevo brought a fantastic atmosphere.

Two opening remarks focused on innovation and digital transformation.

The first speaker was Stefano Ellero, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina. In his view, the resilience and competitiveness of Western Balkans' businesses depend on their ability to embrace innovation and digital tools.

Eva Maria Naeher, Programme Director at GIZ, shared a similar perspective. Innovative and digital solutions can turn the region’s companies into highly successful and globally competitive businesses in the words.

The 2nd Butterfly Innovation & Business Forum Kick-off culminated with a handy overview of the innovation ecosystem landscape in the region.

Dr Lisa Cowey set the stage for the rest of the Forum by providing her professional insights. In her view, the region could benefit by:

• making better use of the existing research & innovation infrastructures that mostly sit idle and heavily underused,
• acknowledging the immense contribution of innovation trailblazers and bringing more women into the game,
• introducing a regional innovation funding initiative to focus on supporting early-stage, preseed innovative teams.
